Dear friends of the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Naxos,

I welcome you to this Naxian, friendly and informative gathering.

I welcome you on behalf of the agricultural world of Naxos, the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of our island. An island with a tradition of producing quality agricultural products.

We had the opportunity to discuss several times with the Media that you work on the major problems of survival that the primary sector of Naxos is facing today. Several of these are common to the problems of the agricultural world of Greece, but also of the European Union. Others are characterized by the particularity of insularity, because each island is a special system.

The latest protests were massive and embraced by the world, because the problems of the peasantry are also reflected on the consumer’s shelf. That is why, after the universal outcry, the European Union seems to be revising its plan for the New CAP and the green transition.

EAS Naxos makes every effort to solve these problems and at the same time to promote, with the help of community programs, our PDO products, especially Naxos Graviera, in the International markets.

One such program that we use today is the one for informing and promoting high quality agricultural products, such as Naxos graviera, in the target countries of Greece and Germany. The first presentation took place last year on March 1^st in Munich.

These campaigns focus on quality, animal health, healthy eating habits, sustainability, elements that our gruyere production fully possesses. Graviera, which is our most important, most representative product. Graviera which is the best of Naxian products, with international fame and many distinctions.

It is no coincidence that Naxos Graviera has been a PDO product since 1996 and is deservedly among the most delicious and well-received cheeses by the consumer, with special quality characteristics.

It is truly a treasure of the Naxian economy, a delight, a treat for the consumer, a great endowment of our island. The motto of the program: Enjoy. It’s from Europe (Enjoy. It’s from Europe) translates to us: Enjoy It’ from Naxos (Enjoy.It’s from Naxos).

Of course, in order to maintain quality and PDO certification, all the required production processes are strictly followed by us. However, the increased production cost problems of recent years require drastic, coordinated and quick measures from the state.

We have repeatedly discussed them and you know first-hand the production, which respects local tradition and know-how, but also takes advantage of the comparative advantages of the Naxian environment.

Thank you very much for your presence and for your help in promoting this worthy product of worthy breeders, so that the consumer public can be more fully and reliably informed about Graviera Naxou PDO, and with it also about the other quality agricultural products of my island.

Once again I welcome you and thank you warmly, for standing by EAS Naxos and the distinguished producers, especially in this difficult period of time that the primary sector and especially the island economies are going through.
