A very succesfull press briefing was held for Graviera Naxou PDO at “Balcony to the Cyclades”, in Kareas.
In the context of the European Program “Information and promotion activities for PDO Graviera Naxou in Greece and Germany” with the distinctive title “The Pleasure of European P.D.O. Products, Graviera Naxou P.D.O.”, a press event was held at “Balcony in the Cyclades”, on March 7, 2024.
The event was attended by the President and CEO of EAS NAXOS, beneficiary of the Program, Mr. Kapounis Dimitrios, the Vice President of the Cooperative, Mr. Valeris Iakovos, the representative of Qualitycert Limited, executive organization of the Program, Mr. Kalaitzidis Konstantinos, as well as a number of reputable journalists from all media and especially from informative and entertaining television shows, food bloggers and shapers of public opinion, who were informed about the Program.
The event was also graced by the presence of the head of the YPAAT agricultural products promotion office, Mr. Nikolaos Tavoularis.
Particular emphasis was placed on the objectives of the program concerning the information and awareness of consumers about European PDO products, with “Graviera Naxou PDO” cheese as the protagonist. In addition, extensive information was provided both on the high standards applied during the production process of Naxos PDO Graviera, as well as on its traceability and special quality characteristics.
At the beginning of his speech, Mr. Taboularis noted the increase in exports in the three-year period 2020-2022, as well as the benefit received by Cooperative Associations that participate in the campaigns to promote EU agricultural products. These campaigns are designed to create new market opportunities for Union farmers and the wider food industry, as well as to improve their businesses.
Then Mr. Kalaitzidis took the floor, who emphasized that the goal of the campaign is the international and domestic recognition of the product in the markets, informed the audience about the characteristics of Naxos PDO graviera, especially in terms of quality and taste, and finally made a report in the promotion activities included in the program with the aim of promoting Naxos PDO graviera in the target countries of the campaign.
The event ended with a speech by the nutritionist, Mr. Panagiotis Kemalis, who informed the attendees about the nutritional value of Naxos graviera, stressing that it is rich in protein of high biological value and rich in water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins, such as vitamin B, as well as metal salts. He also emphasized that it can be consumed even by people with lactose intolerance.
It is worth noting that the menu was adapted to the Naxos PDO graviera, which delighted the guests and elicited rave reviews.
Finally, the event was graced with the presence of Cyclades MP from N.D. Mrs. Katerina Monogiou, the former Minister of PASOK Governments Mr. Filippos Sahinidis, as well as the PASOK MP Mr. Pavlos Christidis.
